Grow Tec Seed Coatings Inc. has developed a polymer coating process that delivers high quality, pre-inoculated pulses. This technology allows seed processors to inoculate, apply seed treatments and polymer coat pulses.

How Does It Work?

  • The coating prevents the rapid die off of Rhizobia that is normally associated with on-farm inoculation.
  • Shelf life of the ProTec coated Rhizobia has viability on the seed that provides a storage period of up to 3 weeks and may be in excess of this time in some cases. The level of viable Rhizobia on the seed meets or exceeds the Agriculture Canada minimum throughout this period. Shelf life may vary and is influenced by storage conditions, impact of seed treatments, etc.

     ProTec Provides:

BD21306_.gif (591 bytes) Confidence in Quality Inoculation. Farmers can access high end inoculation technology without having to invest in expensive new seeding equipment with a third tank or "on the go" seed treating systems. It’s simple and it works.

BD21306_.gif (591 bytes) Inoculant Protection. The polymer seals the inoculant onto the seed and greatly reduces immediate losses due to desiccation and dusting off.

Laboratory test simulating a single pass of seed through an auger illustrates the amount of inoculant loss through handling.

BD21306_.gif (591 bytes)  Increased Inoculant Viability on the seed is important when seeding into marginal moisture conditions, or with unexpected seeding delays. The inoculant can survive with the coating while farm inoculations will continue to die off at a higher rate.
